Tartans Hit Top Times at Western PA Invite

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team competed in the Western Pennsylvania Invitational hosted by the University of Pittsburgh on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28.

Top Performances Friday

  • Junior Danning Hu cut nearly five seconds off her season-best time in the 200-yard IM to finish fourth in 2:10.51.
  • Hu also recorded a season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle by touching second in 53.23.
  • Freshman Mia Li was 59 hundredths of a second off her top time in the 200-yard backstroke with a sixth-place finish in 2:07.95.
  • Freshman Audrey Soetanto won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:06.98.
  • Junior Kelli Kuramoto placed third on the 1-meter board with 283.75 points after six dives

Top Performances Saturday

  • Senior Aidan Pinto recorded a season-best time of 4:40.66 in the 400-yard IM while placing second and a season-best time of 2:28.89 in the 200-yard breaststroke placing sixth.
  • Senior Miya Higuchi touched second in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 58.23.
  • Sophomore Catie Kress won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 10:51.59.
  • Senior Kristin Daniel closed the meet with a time of 19:09.50 in the 1,650-yard freestyle.
  • Kuramoto placed second on the 3-meter board with 292.15 points after six dives.

  • The Tartans will travel to Emory University for the four-day University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships which are scheduled to start on Wednesday, February 8.
