Tartans Open Competition at Kenyon Total Performance Invite

(GAMBIER, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming team began the 2023 Total Performance Invite at Kenyon College on Thursday, November 16. Preliminaries were at 11:00 a.m. with finals at 6:00 p.m., with the Tartans scoring 217 points which puts them in fifth place with two days remaining.

Top Performances

  • The 200-yard freestyle relay of sophomore Savannah Xu, sophomore Grace Malinger, freshman Anna Zaniolo, and senior Zoe Jacobs placed fifth in a time of 1:35.56.
  • The 400-yard medley relay of Elliott, sophomore Yitian Zhang, sophomore Carolann Kimock, and Zaniolo finished 10th in 3:57.05.
  • Sophomore Sophie Elliott led the distance swimmers with a 10th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:05.94 and finishing the preliminaries in a time of 5:04.75.
  • Xu touched fifth in the 200-yard IM with a season-best time of 2:05.06.
  • Malinger won the B-Final of the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.78.
