Cecil Receives NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

Recent graduate Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team has been awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Cecil will receive a one-time, nonrenewable grant of $7,500 to be used for part-time or full-time postgraduate study at a university or professional school.
Women's Tennis Named ITA All-Academic Team; Seven Named Scholar-Athletes

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team was honored for the fifth straight season and 12th time in the last 13 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, seven players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

Recent graduate Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) has done many things for the Carnegie Mellon University Athletics community and Carnegie Mellon University, along with earning the prestigious distinction of being an NCAA Elite 89 award winner. This past spring, the women's tennis standout earned the award from the NCAA for the second straight year.
Three Land on CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-America At-Large Team

Three Carnegie Mellon University athletes have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on the Capital One Academic All-America At-Large Team for both the men and the women with two being honored for the second straight year. Senior tennis athlete Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) is joined by senior golfer Ian Bangor (Moon Township, Pa./Sewickley Academy) on the first team while sophomore Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) found a spot on the second team.
Three Tartans Elected to Prestigious Academic Honor Society

Three Tartans were inducted into Carnegie Mellon University’s chapter of Phi Beta Kappa earlier this month. Women's tennis player Katie Cecil, women’s track and field hurdler Kelsey Hallinen and men’s golfer Ian Bangor were selected to the nation's most prestigious undergraduate academic honor society.

Pratt Competes at NCAA Women’s Tennis Championships Earning All-America Honors

Carnegie Mellon University junior Angela Pratt (Saratoga, Calif./St. Francis) competed at the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships Thursday, May 22. It marked the second straight season Pratt appeared in the championships, as she competed in the doubles field a year ago. This year's championships are being held at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.

Tartans End Run in NCAA Quarterfinals

The eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team completed its season on Monday, May 19 in the national quarterfinals of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship held at Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California. The Tartans dropped their contest to second-ranked Amherst College, 5-1, to end with a 19-5 overall record.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked eighth nationally, played No. 12 University of Chicago in the third round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship on Saturday, May 10 in Chicago, Illinois. The Tartans defeated the Maroons 5-2 and improve to 19-4 while Chicago finishes its season with a dual record of 12-11.

The eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team defeated Hope College, 5-2, in the second round of the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Tennis Championship on Friday, May 9 in Chicago, Illinois. The Tartans improve to 18-4 and will make their seventh straight appearance in the regional championship, and ninth in the last 10 years. Hope finishes its season with a dual mark of 17-6.

Four Women’s Tennis Players Named All-UAA

Four Carnegie Mellon University women’s tennis players found a spot on the University Athletic Association (UAA) team following their performances at the Association Championship this past weekend. The Tartans placed one singles player and a doubles tandem on the first team and two singles players on the second team following the Tartans’ second straight second-place finish at the championship.
