#10 Tartans Blank Blue Streaks

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted the Blue Streak of John Carroll University on Sunday and won 9-0 to move to 14-6 on the season. John Carroll is now 11-5.

The Tartans top doubles team of juniors Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) and Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) started the scoring for the Cardinal and Gray with an 8-2 win. The Tartans third doubles team of freshman Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) and Beata Liberchuk (Edgewater, N.J. / Dwight-Englewood) then won 8-4 before the tandem of freshmen Danna Taylor (Orlando, Fla. / Circle Christian School) and Victoria Chang (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) won by the identical score at the second spot to complete the sweep.

Wu recorded the first team point in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at fourth singles and then Taylor sealed the win with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the top spot.

Also collecting straight set wins in singles were senior Jamie Vizelman (Highland Heights, Ohio / Mayfield), Rao, Chang and Liberchuk.

The Tartans will now host Washington and Lee University on Saturday, April 20 at 12:00 p.m.
