Ollis and Taylor Claim ITA Southeast Doubles Championship

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon University tandem of senior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) and sophomore Danna Taylor (Orlando, Fla. / Circle Christian School) claimed the ITA Southeast Regional Doubles Championship on Wednesday. The match was played on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University following play over the weekend on the campus of University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The pair faced teammates sophomore Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and freshman Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) in the title match and took the first set 6-4. Cornwall and Zheng then took set two 6-3 to force a third and deciding set for the title. In the super tiebreaker deciding set, Taylor and Ollis were victorious 10-3.

This mark the third straight season the Tartans had a doubles team with the regional event and second straight season Taylor has been a part of the winning pair.

Taylor and Ollis advance to play in the ITA Oracle Cup at Berry College in Rome, Georgia, on Thursday, October 17 through Sunday, October 20. Taylor will also compete in singles, as the sophomore won the Southeast championship Monday afternoon. It marked Taylor's second straight ITA Southeast Regional Singles Championship.
