Tartans Blank Case Western Reserve and Christopher Newport at Home

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted Case Western Reserve University and Christopher Newport University on Saturday, October 5, blanking both teams for a pair of wins. The Tartans first topped CWRU, 5-0, before closing out Christopher Newport, 9-0.

Sophomore Danna Taylor (Orlando, Fla. / Circle Christian School) won four matches for the day, all in the first position. Taylor paired with senior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) to win 8-2 in the first match of the day and 8-3 in the second. Her first singles scores were 6-0, 6-2 against CWRU and 6-2, 7-5 against Johanna Ranta Aho of Christopher Newport.

Sophomore Victoria Chang (Dublin, Ohio / Dublin Jerome) sealed the win against the Spartans with a 6-3, 6-1 win at sixth singles.

Sophomore Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and freshman Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) earned two victories at second doubles, topping the pair from CWRU, 8-6, and then winning 8-3 against the Captains. The deciding singles points against the Captains came from sophomore Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-2, and junior Alex Iordache (Princeton, N.J. / South Brunswick) at sixth singles, 6-2, 6-0.
