Zheng Honored as UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis freshman Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) was honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her efforts in an 8-1 victory against Division II Slippery Rock University on Friday, January 31.

The match clinching point in an 8-1 win by the Tartans against Slippery Rock University was won by Zheng at third singles. The freshman won in straight sets by a 6-2, 6-2 score against sophomore Lois Page. Zheng also earned a point for the Tartans at second doubles with sophomore Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) by an 8-2 score.

The Tartans, ranked seventh in the nation, return to action on Saturday, February 8 against 29th-ranked Hope College at the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pennsylvania. The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
