#5 Tartans' Win Streak Snapped at Six by #3 Emory

(MELBOURNE, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked fifth nationally, had its win streak snapped at six when it fell to third-ranked Emory University, 7-2, on Tuesday. The Tartans are now 15-3 overall while the Eagles move to 5-3.

The Tartans trailed 2-1 after doubles play with the number one pair of senior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) and sophomore Danna Taylor (Orlando, Fla. / Circle Christian School) winning 8-7(4). Senior Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and sophomore Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) were nearly victorious, falling 8-6 at second doubles.

In singles play, Cornwall earned a victory at the fourth position. She won 6-3, 6-2 for her fifth straight singles win. Rao played to a third-set tiebreaker after winning her second set, eventually falling 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

The Tartans will return to Pittsburgh and next travel to Baltimore, Maryland, for a March 28 match at 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins University.
