Five Players Named to All-UAA Women’s Tennis Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Five Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Tuesday with recognition on the 2020 UAA Women's Tennis All-Association Team. Three of the five garnered both singles and doubles recognition.

Sophomore Danna Taylor (Orlando, Fla. / Circle Christian School) was honored at first singles, senior Vinaya Rao (Vernon Hills, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) at second singles, freshman Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) at third singles and sophomore Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) at fourth singles. Taylor and senior Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) gathered honors for first doubles while Rao and Cornwall were named to the squad for their play at second doubles.

Taylor, last season's UAA Rookie of the Year, finished with a record of 23-4 with All-America recognition for winning the ITA Southeast Regional Singles Championship for the second consecutive season in the fall. The sophomore and Ollis amassed a record of 19-6 and also won the ITA Southeast Regional Doubles Championship earning All-America recognition. At the ITA Oracle Cup, Taylor won a pair of singles matches while the duo also won twice. The UAA honors for Taylor are her second for both singles and doubles with Ollis earning her fourth straight doubles honor.

Rao, collecting her third straight UAA singles honor, ended play with a 13-8 mark while Cornwall and Zheng are making their first appearance on the team. Cornwall finished with a record of 18-3 with Zheng collecting a record of 16-6. The pair of Rao and Cornwall had a record of 6-3 with four of their wins coming against nationally ranked teams. The doubles honor marked Rao's fourth straight from the UAA coaches.
