#5 Tartans Top UAA Foe #25 Case Western Reserve, 6-1

(VIENNA, Ohio) - The fifth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis played University Athletic Association foe and 25th-ranked Case Western Reserve University on Friday afternoon at Avalon Golf & Country Club in Vienna, Ohio. The Tartans improved to 12-2 with a 6-1 win over the Spartans. Case Western Reserve is now 4-1.

The Tartans number three pair of freshman Farida Abdelmoneum (Portland, Ore. / K12 International Academy) and sophomore Megan Qiang (Cleveland, Ohio / Hathaway Brown School) gave the Cardinal and Gray a 1-0 advantage with an 8-4 win. Carnegie Mellon's top tandem of junior Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and sophomore Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) won 8-5 to give the Tartans two points in doubles play.

In singles, Abdelmoneum and Qiang won in straight sets at three and four, respectively. Abdelmoneum won by the scores of 6-3, 6-0 while Qiang won 7-5, 6-2. Junior Ola Wojciak (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) then sealed the win with a 2-6, 6-0, 7-6 (3) win at four singles.
