(OBERLIN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team started its 2021 fall season at the Oberlin College Invitational this weekend. Eight members of the Cardinal and Gray made the trip to Oberlin, Ohio.
The Tartans combined for a record of 13-6 in singles throughout the weekend and ended went 6-4 in doubles play.
A pair of first-year Tartans, Sarah Yang (Alpharetta, Ga. / Northview) and Crystal Zhou (Austin, Texas / LASA), started their career with three wins in singles play. Senor Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and freshman Zoe Angell (Midland, Mich. / H.H. Dow) finished with a mark of 2-1 at singles.
In doubles play, the tandem of Cornwall and freshman Ava Givone (Delray Beach, Fla. / Oxbridge Academy) turned in a 3-0 record. The doubles pair of Yang and Zhou left Oberlin with a 2-1 record.
The Tartans will host their annual invitational this weekend, September 17-19.
