Tartans Late Night Ends in 5-2 Setback to Wesleyan

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team continued its spring trip on Wednesday with a 5-2 loss to Wesleyan University. The match was set to start at 6:30 p.m., but rain in the area pushed the start two hours. The setback leaves the Tartans record at 7-4 while Wesleyan remains unbeaten at 3-0.

The Tartans' number one pair of senior Lindy Cornwall (Poway, Calif. / Poway) and junior Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) claimed the lone point for the Cardinal and Gray in doubles play. The tandem won 8-7 (3) over Sasha Gaeth and Kristina Yu.

Singles play saw Cornwall collected the only team point for the Tartans. The senior won at third singles over Katie Fleischman by the scores of 6-3, 1-6, 1-0 (3). The match was played to decision because of darkness and at the time of the stoppage Zheng had won her first set 6-4 and was tied at 4-4 in the second at the fourth spot.

The Tartans will be back on the courts on Thursday, March 10 with a 6:30 p.m. match against Kenyon College.
