#11 Women's Tennis Drop 5-2 Match to Division I Duquesne

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 11th nationally in Division III, hosted Division I Duquesne University on Friday afternoon and dropped a 5-2 decision. The Tartans are now 12-5 overall while the Dukes move to 10-8.

Playing by Division I scoring, the Dukes took the lone team point winning at first and second doubles. The Tartans third tandem of senior Janabelle Wu (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) and freshman Sarah Yang (Alpharetta, Ga. / Northview) won their match 8-2.

The Tartans claimed two points in singles play, as Yang won 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (5) at the top spot and then junior Bin Zheng (Miami, Fla. / Doral Academy) closed the match with a straight set win at two singles winning by the scores of 6-4, 6-4.

The Tartans will be back on the courts Saturday, April 16 when the entertain the Spartans of Case Western Reserve University.
