Tartans Conclude Fall Season at ITA Cup

(ROME, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team had three members continue play on Friday at the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia.

Sophomore Sarah Yang won her consolation match in singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Suzuka Nishino of the University of Texas at Dallas. Yang's classmate Crystal Zhou played Katherine Wurster of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges in another consolation match as Zhou forced a third set before dropping a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 decision.

In doubles play, Zhou paired with junior Danna Taylor as the duo faced fourth-seeded Brook Despriet and Katherine Petty from Sewanee University in the quarterfinals. Zhou and Taylor dropped a two-set match by the scores of 6-4, 6-3. The tandem then played Lorna Flores Gonzalez and Nicole Ridenour from RPI in a consolation match and won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 to end play for the fall season.
