#11 Tartans Win Road Contest at Oberlin

(OBERLIN, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team traveled north to play Oberlin College on Saturday, February 11. The 11th-ranked Tartans topped the Yeowomen by an 8-1 score and move to 4-1 for the year.

How it Happened

  • Carnegie Mellon earned three points by default wins: at third doubles and fifth and sixth singles.
  • The Tartans earned points at first and second doubles, as senior Danna Taylor and sophomore Crystal Zhou won 8-0 in the first position and the first-year pair of Anna Chow and Divya Venkatarama won 8-5 in the second position.
  • With the three default wins and two doubles wins, the Tartans secured the match.
  • First year Anika Joshi finished singles play first with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the fourth position.
  • Venkatarama won her team-leading 12th singles match of the year with a 6-0, 6-4 showing at second singles
  • Taylor finished the Tartans' scoring with a 6-4, 6-4 win at first singles.
