#11 Tartans Sweep Behrend to Open NCAA Play

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team opened the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship with a 4-0 win over Penn State Behrend in the first round on Thursday, May 8. The Tartans are in the NCAA Championship for the 19th time in program history and have advanced to the second round each time.

- The Tartans earned the doubles point by winning 6-0 at both second and third doubles.
- Junior Divya Venkatarama and freshman Ancele Dolensek at the second position finished just ahead of junior Anika Joshi and freshman Shelly Zinchenko at the third position.
- In singles action, junior Manuela Van Cotthem swept her sixth singles match by a 6-0, 6-0 score to give the Tartans a 2-0 lead.
- Freshman Victoria Gazda was second to finish with a 6-0, 6-0 score at fifth singles.
- Zinchenko earned the match point with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at first singles.
