Tartans Continue Season at GaREAT Open
(GENEVA, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled to Geneva, Ohio, for the Midwest Indoor Track and Field Open hosted at the Spire Institute. The meet consisted of teams from Division I, Division II and Division III.
Sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.14 and 17th in the 60-meter dash in 8.09 seconds.
Senior Ivana Moses (New Rochelle, N.Y./Phillips Exeter) placed seventh in the long jump with a distance of 5.05 meters. Sophomore Stephanie Chen (Vancouver, B.C./Crofton House School) recorded a top-eight finish in the triple jump, finishing sixth with a distance of 10:57 meters.
In other events, sophomore Jane Kim (Clifton, Va./Centreville) placed 40th in the shot put with a mark of 9.44 meters, freshman Sara Kelly (Madison, Wis./West) finished the 3,000-meter run in 12:06.65 and freshman Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) ran the mile in 5:27.63 for a 20th place finish.
Sophomore Kelsey Hallinen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) had the team's top finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:07.88 while freshman Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) finished the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.16.
The Tartans will next compete against Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 4 in Cleveland, Ohio. The meet starts at 11:00 a.m.
