Tartans Open Indoor Season at Marietta
(MARIETTA, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team sent seven athletes to Marietta College to open the indoor season on Saturday, January 14. Two athletes earned first-place finishes among a field of athletes from Division II and Division III schools.
Freshman Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) won the 800-meter run in 2:33.83 in her first collegiate indoor track race while junior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) took the crown in the 5,000-meter run in 17:44.24.
Senior Ivana Moses (New Rochelle, N.Y./Phillips Exeter) took second place in the long jump with a distance of 4.87 meters and seventh place in the 55-meter dash in 7.93 seconds after qualifying for the finals with a time of 7.90. Sophomore Marissa Bynoe (Holliston, Mass./Holliston) finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 4.31 meters.
Sophomore Samantha Oleson (Hopkinton, Mass./Hopkiinton) finished ninth in the shot put with a mark of 9.71 meters as sophomore Jane Kim (Clifton, Va./Centreville) was 15th with a mark of 9.14 meters and senior Morgan Heskett (Purcellville, Va./Loudoun Valley) was 17th with a mark of 7.20 meters. Kim, Heskett and Oleson each threw the weight throw, finishing 13th, 14th and 15th, respectively with marks of 9.21 meters, 8.30 meters and 8.28 meters.
The team will continue action on Saturday, January 21 when they it travels to Edinboro, Pennsylvania, for a meet at Edinboro University.
