Tartans Compete at Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational
(YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational on Saturday.
Freshman Liz Barre (Ithaca, N.Y. / Taft) won the high jump with a season-best height of 1.56 meters.
For the third straight event, freshman Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) bettered her school record time in the 200-meter dash. The freshman crossed in 25.73 to place 10th and topped her time of 25.93 recorded last week. Giordani also placed fifth the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.06.
In the 60-meter hurdles with senior Joanna Baranowski (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset) placing 12th in a time of 9.58 while senior Leah Kendrick (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks East) finished 18th in 9.64, and Barre crossed in 9.70 to place 20th.
Junior Ally Tully (Chappaqua, N.Y. / Horace Greeley) recorded a career-best mark in the weight throw with a distance of 12.95 meters to place 16th. Tully also placed 23rd in the shot put with a mark of 10.39 meters.
Carnegie Mellon will return to action on Saturday, February 8 at Roanoke College.
