Barre Places Ninth in Heptathlon at 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Giordani Advances to Final of 100-Meter

(GENEVA, Ohio) – Competition continued for members of the Carnegie Mellon women's track and field team on Friday at day two of the 2022 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The three-day championships are being held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

Junior Liz Barre (Ithaca, N.Y. / Taft) completed the final three events of the heptathlon Friday and ended with a school record 4,594 points to place ninth. The junior recorded a career-best time of 2:31.68 in the 800-meter run to highlight her afternoon.

Junior Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) competed in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash and qualified for the finals with a time of 11.98.

Graduate student Kendra Noneman (Eagle, Idaho / Eagle) will start the day on Saturday for the Tartans in the hammer throw at 11:00 a.m. Giordani will run in the finals of the 100-meter dash at 1:30 p.m. and then the 200-meter dash on at 2:40 p.m.
