Bio

Curtis Watro joined the Carnegie Mellon University track and field staff at the start of the 2021-22 season as a volunteer assistant distance coach before being elevated to part-time assistant at the start of the 2022-23 season.

Watro competed four years for the Tartans on the track and field and cross country teams. He graduated in May of 2017 with a double major, a degree in Business with a concentrate in marketing from the Tepper School of Business and the another in history from the Heinz College.

Upon graduation, he has worked for Merk & Co. Inc. and currently a Senior Specialist, Product Owner after holding multiple positions within the company.

As an athlete for Carnegie Mellon, Watro has the following awards and accolades.

  • USTFCCCA All-Academic in 2017
  • Outdoor All-Region in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 2017
  • UAA Champion in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2017 UAA Outdoor Championships
  • Set indoor school record in the distance medley relay in 2017
  • NCAA Participant in the distance medley relay at the 2017 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships
  • Indoor All-Region in the 3,000-meter run and distance medley relay in 2017
  • UAA Champion in the 3,000-meter run at the 2017 UAA Indoor Championships
  • All-UAA Second Team in the distance medley relay at the 2017 UAA Indoor Championships
