Tartans Take Down Pioneers 3-0

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team defeated Marietta College 3-0 Wednesday, September 7, in Skibo Gymnasium behind 28 team kills and 10 block assists. The Tartans are now 3-2 on the season while the Pioneers drop to 4-1 after game scores of 25-18, 25-16, and 25-21.

The Tartans tallied nine kills in the first game with sophomore Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) collecting five of her team-high 11 kills. In the second game, Parsa picked up her final six kills while freshman Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) had four of her six kills in the third game.

Sophomore setter Emily Wright (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) recorded a game-high 19 assists while picking up three digs. Sophomore Rachel Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) picked up eight digs to lead the Tartans while senior Emily Baddock (Houston, Texas/Dulles) had seven digs. Parsa led at the net for Carnegie Mellon with four block assists as sophomore Olivia Mora (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) had three block assists.

The Tartans will travel for the weekend to Baldwin-Wallace College for four matches. They open the tournament on Friday against the host team at 4:00 p.m.
