No. 16 Tartans End UAA Round Robin #1 Play with 3-0 Win Over Brandeis

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team, ranked 16th nationally, finished University Athletic Association (UAA) Round Robin play on Sunday, October 2 with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-23) victory over Brandeis University at home in Skibo Gymnasium. The Tartans are now 16-4 and 1-2 in UAA play while the Judges move to 6-9, 0-3.

Sophomore Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown STEM Academy) lead the offense with 14 kills while senior Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) totaled five in the win.

Senior setter Emily Newton (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Chadwick School) led the Cardinal and Gray with 18 assists. Sophomore Amanda Thiele (Lakeland, Fla./George Jenkins) handed out eight and freshman Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) collected six with.
    
Defensively, senior Molly Higgins (Vero Beach, Fla./Vero Beach) tallied 18 digs.

The Tartans will have a week off before returning to UAA play on Saturday, October 15 at Brandeis University. Carnegie Mellon will open the second round robin against New York University at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
