Newton Garners UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Emily Newton (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Chadwick School) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. Newton receives the honor following her performance in helping the Tartans to three victories at their home invitational over the weekend.
    
Newton collected 99 assists for the week with 40 coming in a 3-1 win against Messiah Friday night. In 3-0 victories against Elizabethtown and RIT on Saturday, she had 28 and 31, assists respectively. She also hit .429 for the week with nine kills and zero errors.

The Tartans will next face Wittenberg University on Saturday, October 29 at 3:00 p.m. at Oberlin College.
