Tartans Place Fourth at UAA Championship

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team finished in fourth-place at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Saturday with a 3-1 (18-25, 25-19, 18-25, 23-25) setback to 13th-ranked Washington University who finished with an overall record of 24-7. The 2018 Championship was held at the University of Rochester.

Senior Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) led the Tartans with 13 kills while junior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa. / Parkland) and freshman Carrie Stewart (Victor, N.Y. / Victor) each tabbed 12. Junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif. / Sacred Heart Cathedral) dished out 42 assists.

Mueller, So-Holloway and senior Sydney Bauer (Allen, Texas/Allen) and junior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) all finished with three service aces.

Defensively, junior Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) led the defense with 19 digs. Mueller had 18 and So-Holloway 10 to both record double-doubles.

The Tartans finish the regular season with a record of 22-10, under 14th-year head coach Kim Kelly and will wait to see if they receive an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament on Monday, November 5.
