Tartans Heading Back to NCAA Championship Tournament

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – For the third straight season, the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team received an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship when the bracket was announed on Monday afternoon. This marks the program's sixth overall appearance and fifth under 14-year head coach Kim Kelly.

The Tartans, who finished with an overall record of 22-10 and ranked third in the Mid-Atlantic region, finished fourth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship tournament over the weekend.

Carnegie Mellon will play Morrisville State (25-6), winners of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), in the first round on Friday, November 9. The winner of the Tartans and Mustangs will face the winner of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (28-4) and Nazareth College (23-12) on Saturday, November 10.

Ithaca College (18-7), who is ranked first in the New York region, was selected to host the three-day, eight-team regional. The Bombers will play Southern Vermont (21-6) in the first round with the winner advancing to play the winner of Stevenson University (21-11) and Hunter College (24-8) on Saturday.
