So-Holloway and Jurgens Named All-America; Three Others Named Honorable Mention

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) – Five days after being named Mid-Atlantic Region American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Player of the Year, junior setter Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) of the Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team was named Second Team All-America while senior opposite Sarah Jurgens (Eagan, Minn.) landed a spot on the third team. Joining the two are senior outside hitter Lauren Mueller (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown SIEM Academy), junior middle blocker Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) and junior libero Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) as All-America Honorable Mention honorees from the AVCA.

This marks the third consecutive season that multiple Tartans have received the accolade in the same year. It also is the first time in program history that two Tartans have been named to one of the top three All-America teams in the same season.

So-Holloway, a first team All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honoree, led the team and ranked second in the UAA with 1,306 assists. Her 56 service aces were tops on the Tartans and ranked third best in the Association. The junior recorded a career-best 58 assists against Alma and tabbed a career-best eight service aces against Franciscan. So-Holloway ranks fifth on the school's all-time assist list with 2,223 for her career.

Jurgens ranked second on the team with 399 kills, 3.19 kills per game and a hitting percentage of .299, all ranking in the top 10 of the UAA. The senior recorded 22 double-digit kill matches and recorded her 1,000th career kill earlier this season at the Carnegie Mellon DoubleTree Invitation-al. Jurgens ends her career ranked eighth on the school's all-time kills list with 1,235 for her ca-reer.

Mueller was named to the All-UAA second team and led the Association with 409 kills and 3.41 kills per game. She recorded 387 digs this season, which ranked second on the team. Mueller rec-orded double-digit kills in 23 matches, including a career-best 24 against Alma. Mueller ends her career ranked fifth on the school's all-time kills list with 1,509 for her career.

Foose, a second team All-UAA selection, led the team with a .334 hitting percentage and ranked seventh in the UAA. Foose finished third on the team with 282 kills and 2.39 kills per set. She recorded a career-best 17 kills against Muhlenberg while recording 16 kills against nationally ranked Emory and Chicago. The junior tabbed 75 total blocks, which ranked second on the Tar-tans.

Yew led the UAA with 656 digs and 5.25 digs per game, as the junior was a second team hon-oree from the Association. Her 41 service aces ranked fourth on the team and 10th in the UAA. She currently ranks fifth on the school's all-time digs list with 1,717. The junior recorded double-digit digs in 33 of 35 matches played this season, including a career-best 45 against Muhlenberg.
