Tartans Remain Perfect With 3-0 Win Over Swarthmore

(HUNTINGDON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University's volleyball team defeated Swarthmore College 3-0 (29-27, 25-21, 25-15) on Friday night at the opening day of the ASICS Invitational hosted by Juniata College. The Tartans remain unbeaten at 5-0 while the Garnet drop their first contest of the season and are now 3-1.

Senior Erika Foose (Allentown, Pa./Parkland and sophomore Vivian Beaudoin (Washington, N.J./Warren Hills) led the Cardinal and Gray attack with 10 kills apiece. The ten kills for Beaudoin marked a career-best, while the sophomore hit .529 and Foose hit .588.

Senior Maia So-Holloway (Oakland, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) handed out 28 kills and tabbed eight digs. Senior Kayla Yew (San Francisco, Calif./Sacred Heart Cathedral) led the Tartans with 23 digs. Foose led the team at the net with four block assists and one block solo.

The Tartans will continue play on Saturday with an 11:00 a.m. contest against 15th-ranked Ithaca College before playing the third-ranked host Eagles at 6:30 p.m.
