Beaudoin Honored as CoSIDA Academic All-American

(AUSTIN, Texas) – Carnegie Mellon University volleyball senior Vivian Beaudoin (Washington, N.J. / Warren Hills) was recognized as a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American after landing a spot on the all-district team two years in a row. Beaudoin was named to the second team and is one of 22 total honorees.

This prestigious award for Beaudoin marks the second time a Carnegie Mellon volleyball player has earned Academic All-America recognition from CoSIDA. The last honoree was Stephanie Szobota in 1999.

Beaudoin entered the starting lineup full time as a sophomore and was second on the team in kills with 226 and third in blocks with 70 on her way to earning All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Second Team honors in 2019. She had eight matches with double-digit kills and recorded a career-high seven blocks against Otterbein University with six against third-ranked Juniata. In four matches in the spring of 2021, Beaudoin led the team in blocks with 15 and was third in kills with 20. Beaudoin's senior season finished with another All-UAA Second Team honor after the right side hitter led the team in kills with 289 with a hitting percentage of .251. She collected another 70 blocks to bring her career total to 155. Beaudoin amassed 544 career kills in 70 matches played and put down a career-best 22 kills against nationally-ranked Emory University.

In the classroom, Beaudoin maintains a 4.0 GPA as an electrical and computer engineering major. She volunteered with Special Olympics and CMU Field Day in 2019, and is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Honor Society and Tau Beta Pi, the Carnegie Institute of Technology Honor Society. Additionally, Beaudoin is a member of the Society of Women Engineers and Women in ECE. She has twice been honored at the Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Celebration, which celebrates juniors and seniors carrying the highest GPAs across each academic college and team.

In the summer of 2020, Beaudoin was a software development engineering intern at Amazon. Apple has also drawn her interest, as she was a hardware design verification intern at the company during the summer of 2021.
