(ST. LOUIS, Mo.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team opened University Athletic Association (UAA) play on Saturday afternoon at Washington University in St. Louis. The day started with a 3-0 win over Brandeis University 3-0 before dropping a 3-1 decision to 20th-ranked WashU.

- The Tartans took the first set 25-23 before winning set two 25-22 and then the third by the score of 25-23.
- Junior Jane Dean led the attack for the Tartans with nine kills while classmate Laura Reichard totaled seven.
- Senior Stella Yan handed out 30 assists.
- Sophomore Abby Chen was the loan Tartan with double-digit digs as she finished with 13.
- Chen recorded a team-best three service aces with Reichard and junior Mindee Lai each having two.
