Tartans Close Away Weekend with Two Victories

(HUNTINGDON, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team closed the weekend in the Wid Guisler Invitational at Juniata College with a 3-0 win and a 3-1 win against York College and Smith College on Saturday, October 22. The Tartans are now 16-6 for the season.

  • The Tartans won by set scores of 25-19, 25-15, and 25-13.
  • The offense was spread around as no one collected double-digit kills.
  • Freshman Katherine Jackson and junior Jane Dean led the team with eight kills apiece.
  • Dean hit .500 with no errors.
  • Senior Stella Yan collected 27 assists.
  • Sophomore Abby Chen led with 16 digs while junior Laura Reichard had 12 digs.
  • Reichard had three block assists while freshman Kai Herchenroether had two block assists.
  • Jackson tied her career-best with three service aces.

  • The Tartans won by set scores of 25-22, 20-25, 25-18, and 25-12.
  • The team hit .480 in set four with 14 kills.
  • Jackson again led the team and had a career-best 16 kills. Reichard was second with 12 kills and Dean third with 10.
  • Yan collected 47 assists.
  • Jackson had another three service aces.
  • Reichard led with 21 digs with Chen collecting 16.

Next Up

The Tartans will host Hiram College on Friday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. and will start the match after celebrating their three senior student-athletes.
