Lindsey and Karabin Repeat as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

Seniors Emmalyn Lindsey (Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) and Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-America selections. Both land a spot on the first team, as it marks the second straight season Karabin was named to the top team. This is Lindsey’s third straight honor, first on the top team, as she was named a second team selection last season and garnered third team accolades following her sophomore campaign.

Seniors Emmalyn Lindsey (Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) and Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) as Women's Cross Country/Track and Field Academic All-District selections. This is Lindsey’s third honor and Karabin’s second while both garnered CoSIDA Academic All-America honors last season with Lindsey also receiving the honor in 2018.

Six members of the Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team were named to the All-Academic team by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). In addition, the Tartans earned all-academic team accolades sporting a 3.53 cumulative average.

Banner Fall for Student-Athletes in the Classroom

It was a memorable fall for the Carnegie Mellon Athletics Program, as five of six fall teams advanced to postseason play, the basketball and swimming and diving teams got off to great starts, and the women’s golf team earned a number one national ranking. Four teams competed in the NCAA postseason, including the women’s soccer team’s run to the national semifinals, and the Tartans once again finished the fall 16th in the Learfield Directors’ Cup Standings. On top of the competitive success, 104 student-athletes achieved 4.0 grade-point averages (GPA) and more than 60 percent of the student-athletes earned a 3.50 GPA or better.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team received an at-large invitation to the 2019 NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships marking the third straight season the Tartans will race as a team for the championship. This year's race will be hosted by Spalding University at the Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, November 23. The team appearance marks the sixth in program history.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team ran to a third-place finish at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships hosted at Lehigh University this Saturday. Following two top-five nationally ranked teams, Johns Hopkins University and Dickinson College, the women finished with 138 points, 50 points behind topped ranked Johns Hopkins and 40 points behind fifth-ranked Dickinson College.

The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team hosted the 2019 University Athletic Association (UAA) Cross Country Championships on its home course in Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Saturday afternoon and finished fourth on the 6k course. Washington University in St. Louis won the race with 24 points.

The women scored six runners in the top 15 among a field of Division III teams including Allegheny and Case Western Reserve University.
