Tartans Finish 18th at NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's cross country team closed the season with an 18th-place finish at the 2021 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships. The championships were hosted by Spalding University on the 6k course at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky. This marked the Tartans fourth straight team appearance at the championships and seventh overall.

Senior Kristen Seballos (Cleveland, Ohio / Padua Franciscan) was the first Tartan to cross, as she finished with a time of 22:30.7 and placed 108th out of 293 runners. Senior Taylor Jacobs (Bozeman, Mont. / The Taft School) crossed less than a second behind Seballos in 109th with a time of 22:31.5.

Freshman Cora Marcet (Naperville, Ill. / Naperville Central) and graduate student Michelle Murray (Greenlawn, N.Y. / Harborfields) were the third and fourth Tartans to cross in times of 22:32.5 and 22:35.9, respectively. Sophomore Megan Baker (Exton, Pa. / B. Reed Henderson) ended the championships with a time of 22:49.7 to round out the scoring for the Cardinal and Gray.

Freshmen Sophia Zalewski (Piedmont, Calif. / Piedmont) and Alyssa Hoffman (Watsontown, Pa. / Warrior Run) also competed on Saturday. Zalewski had a time of 23:01.0 and Hoffman crossed in 23:19.8.
