Internship Year, Title, and Company
Summer 2020, Global Corporate Banking Analyst, Bank of America

Application process: I applied in July 2019 and went to my superday interview during preseason (August 2019), received an offer on my flight home, and then accepted two weeks later.

Why did this internship interest you: I didn’t know much about corporate banking until I had the interview and I was able to connect with some people at the bank who told me more about it. I actually talked to a CMU men’s basketball alum who is currently doing the same thing at Bank of America. I wanted to be at a large bank and be in NYC. Bank of America seemed like a great environment and opportunity. After hearing more about the position, it really sounded like my dream job and opportunity that I wanted.

How did you complete the internship - remotely or on-site: The internship was completely remote.

Description of internship: We spent the first three weeks virtually training our finance skills. This was roughly 40 hour per week. The next three weeks were spent with our teams. Within corporate banking there are seven different teams (healthcare, consumer and retails, technology media and telecom, etc), so we were placed in a specific team. My team was the healthcare group. We were given a project to complete by the end of the three weeks and then had to present it to the entire team. For the project, we were given a company and had to compile information on how they compare to their competitors, how they are performing, their liquidity and leverage levels, and ultimately provide a suggestion for their future. The project was completed independently but I was able to connect with the associates at any time if I had questions. The final three weeks were roughly 60 hour work weeks.

How it could have been different if not remote: If it was in person I would have been able to meet other interns and full-time employees. I probably would have had a better understanding of what exactly I will be doing when I return full-time and I could have been a part of some live deals. Since it was remote and shorter we were limited to the information we could know about the bank and the current deals, which is usually the most exciting part of the internship.

How did this internship shape your next move: Happy to say I was offered a full‐time position and accepted it! I will be in the NYC office at Bryant Park upon graduation.
