16 Carnegie Mellon Football Players Named to the NFF Hampshire Honor Society

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had 16 student-athletes named to the 2024 National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers.

Three Carnegie Mellon University football athletes were honored with selections to the 2023 Academic All-America football teams, selected by the College Sports Communicators. Senior linebacker Robert Coury and senior offensive lineman Dustin Moss repeat as honorees on the first team with senior linebacker Thomas Coury repeating his selection on the second team.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team landed 60 members on the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll for the Fall 2023 semester. Of the 57, 30 maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the first semester.

The fall athletics season was highlighted by four team NCAA appearances, three University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships, and a football bowl victory, but the Tartans also continued their dominance in the classroom. Academically, 137 student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) with nearly 65 percent earning a 3.50 GPA or better.

In its 10th year celebrating academic and athletic achievement, the Carnegie Mellon Department of Athletics welcomed faculty and staff to the annual Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Celebration to honor 35 of the highest-achieving juniors and seniors across all colleges and athletics teams on Wednesday. The celebration is always held on Reading Day during finals week.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team hosted Brockport in the 2023 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Asa S. Bushnell Bowl on Saturday and defeated the Golden Eagles 37-7. Senior quarterback Ben Mills was named MVP of the Asa S. Bushnell Bowl after throwing for a season-high 291 yards on 25-of-39 and two touchdowns.

The Carnegie Mellon University football team had 21 players receive All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) distinction, announced by the conference office following voting by the league coaches. The Tartans placed six on the first team, five on the second team and nine were named honorable mention and one was honored to the sportsmanship team.

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore placekicker Justin Caputo was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Special Teams Player of the Week while junior linebacker Evan Roper was recognized nationally on the D3football.com Team of the Week for their play in the Tartans’ 31-21 win over Case Western Reserve in the 37th Annual Academic Bowl on Saturday, November 11.
