Four Men’s Basketball Players Named All-UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – The Carnegie Mellon men's basketball team had four players named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Team by the league's coaches when the Association announced its postseason All-Star teams Wednesday, February 29.  Senior John Duhring (Round Hill, Va./Saint Maria Goretti) found a spot on the Association's second team, as senior Joe Kromka (Monroeville, Pa./Gateway) along with sophomores Christian Manoli (San Rafael, Calif./Terra Linda) and Rashaun Riley (Houston, Texas/Cypress Creek) received honorable mention status.

Duhring led the team in scoring and free throw shooting as he averaged 12.2 points and shot 81.2% from the charity stripe.  He scored in double figures in 13 games this season while recording a career-high 24 points against Susquehanna and Chicago.  The 6-6 senior was second on the team in rebounding with 4.8 rebounds per game.  Duhring ended his career playing in every game (101) at Carnegie Mellon and ranked 10th on the school's career three-pointers made list with 108.

Kromka was the team's leading rebounder in 2010-11 averaging 5.5 boards per game while ranking 11th in the UAA.  The senior also led the team in blocked shots with 42 and ranked second in the Association.  Kromka scored in double figures 13 times this season as he poured in a career-high 22 points against Case Western Reserve in his last collegiate game.  He ended the season ranked fourth on the team in scoring averaging 10.0 points per contest.

Manoli was the Tartans' third leading scorer for the second straight season, averaging 11.8 points per contest.  Manoli scored in double figures 14 times this season and scored 20 or more on three occasions.  Also for the second straight season, the sophomore led the team in assists with 60 while recording a career-high eight at Emory. This marks the second appearance for Manoli on the All-UAA team as he was named an honorable mention honoree a year ago.

Riley ranked second on the team in scoring, averaging 11.9 points per game and scored in double figures 14 times.  The sophomore recorded a career-high 24 points against Bethany earlier this season.  Riley led the team with a 49.7% field goal percentage and was second in three-point field goal percentage, shooting 45.8% from behind the arc to rank seventh in the Association.

This marks the eighth time in the UAA's 25-year history that Carnegie Mellon has landed three or more players on the All-Association team.
