Tartans Land Two on All-UAA Men’s Basketball Squad

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Seniors Jack Serbin (New Albany, Ohio) and Chris Shkil (Mentor, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team were named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Team as the Association announced its postseason accolades on Monday, February 27.

Serbin was named to the first team while Shkil found a spot on the second team. This marks Serbin's fourth All-UAA honor. He was named UAA Rookie of the Year and to the second team the past two seasons. This is Shkil's first postseason honor.

Serbin led the Tartans averaging 17.7 points and 12.0 rebounds per game. The senior recorded 16 double-doubles this season, which ranks top in the UAA and 16th nationally.  He ranks eighth nationally and first in the UAA with 8.76 defensive rebounds per game.  For the second straight season, Serbin is tops in the UAA in total rebounds and second in scoring.  The 6-foot-9-inch swingman recorded nine contests of 20 or more points and scored in double figures in 21 of the 25 games he played.  This marked his third straight season he has averaged a double-double. Serbin finished the regular season ranked second on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,516 points, second in blocks with 180 and third in rebounding with 934 boards.

Shkil led the UAA with 45 blocked shots and ranked second shooting 59.5% from the floor. He was second on the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 13.3 points and 7.6 rebounds. The senior has scored in double figures in 19 of 24 games while recording six double-doubles. In 13 contests this year, Shkil has at least two blocks while he finished the regular season ranked third on the school's all-time block chart with 157.
