Tartans Drop 85-71 Contest at Chicago
(CHICAGO, Ill.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team traveled to the Windy City to play the University of Chicago on Friday night in a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest. The Tartans drop an 85-71 decision to the Maroons after a tight first half of play.

How it Happened
- With the score 10-8 in favor of the home team, the Maroons used a 9-3 run to claim a 19-11 advantage seven minutes into the contest.
- A triple by sophomore Aidan Murphy and a traditional three-point play by freshman Buckley DeJardin along by another bucket by the freshman knotted the score at 19-all at the 10:50 mark of the first half.
- The Tartans run turned into a spurt where the Cardinal and Gray scored 21 straight and led 32-19 with 6:15 remaining in the first half.
- Chicago answered with a 13-2 run to cut into the deficit, making the score 34-31 at the 2:08 mark before the Tartans took a 38-37 lead into the break.
- After three lead changes in the first minute of the second half, the Maroons used a 13-3 scamper to take a 52-44 lead with 16:35 on to play.
- The home team continued to control the game and extended its lead to 65-48 with 13 minutes to play.
- Following a triple by sophomore Aidan Booher, that closed a 9-2 run for Carnegie Mellon, Chicago led 73-63 with seven minutes to play.
- The Maroons went on to score seven straight to extend their lead before holding on for the 85-71 victory.

- Junior Jack Stone led the Tartans with 20 points after converting 6-of-11 from the floor, including a 3-of-4 effort from long range.
- Booher finished with 14 points off the bench.
Maroons Stats
- Bryce Hopkins and Joe Berry led the Maroons with 19 points apiece.
- Eamonn Kenah finished with 16 points while Jackson Piotrowski scored 10.
- Hopkins led all players with 13 rebounds to record a double-double.
Game Notes
- It marks the second straight season that each team has won on their own court in the season series.
- Carnegie Mellon has made at least one three-point basket in 537 straight contests.
