(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team concluded its University Athletic Association (UAA) slate with a 95-91 setback to 14th-ranked Case Western Reserve Saturday in Pittsburgh.

How it Happened
- After the Tartans scored the first six points of the game, Case Western Reserve put together a 20-3 run over a six-minute span and led 20-9 with 12:18 to play.
- Over the next seven minutes, Carnegie Mellon with a 20-5 run of its own and grabbed a 29-25 advantage.
- With 1:23 to play in the first half, a pair of foul shots by Spartans Cole Frilling put the visitor's ahead 42-39.
- The Tartans then scored the last six points of the half, including a triple by senior Josh Berry with six ticks on the clock, to take a 45-42 lead into the locker room.
- Carnegie Mellon started the second frame on a 9-3 run and built its largest lead of the contest at 54-45 with 16:04 showing on the clock.
- The Spartans slowly chipped into the Tartans lead and then took a 64-63 but a minute later, freshman Buckley DeJardin knotted the score at 67-all after connecting on a second chance layup.
- Case Western Reserve then used a 14-4 run over the next three minutes to lead 81-71 with 5:46 to play and never surrendered the lead the rest of the game.

- Carnegie Mellon shot 48.6% from the floor and converted 12-of-15 (80.0%) from the foul line.
- Freshman Justin Allen scored a career-best 33 points on 10-of-16 from the floor including a 6-of-10 effort from long range.
- Junior Jack Stone tied a season-best with 24 points.
- Junior R.J. Holmes recorded a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, seven offensive.
Spartans Stats
- Case Western Reserve shot 55.4% from the floor and converted 17-of-21 (81.0%) from the foul line.
- Frilling led four Spartans in double figures with 30 points.
- Umar Rashid and Sam Trunley each had 19 coming off the bench while Danny Frauenheim scored 17.
- Frauenheim dished out a game-high 11 assists to record a double-double.
Game Notes
- The 33 points scored by Allen marks the first 30-point game by a Tartan freshman since Christian Manoli scored 30 against La Roche in 2010.
- The double-double for Holmes was his fifth of the season and 15th of his career.
