Fourteen men’s and women’s basketball and swimming and diving Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Division III, nominated by members of CSC, for the fall season. College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) rebranded to CSC in the summer of 2022.

Allen Named to the NABC All-District 7 Team and D3hoops.com Region 7 Squad

Sophomore Justin Allen of the Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball team was named to the 2023-24 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III All-District 7 team. Allen was named to the second team after helping the Tartans reach the NCAA tournament for the first time since the 2008-09 season.

Three Tartans Named All-UAA; Coaching Staff Receives Recognition

Three Carnegie Mellon University men's basketball players were named to the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Basketball Team when the league announced its postseason accolades on Tuesday. Senior Jack Stone and sophomore Justin Allen landed a spot of the first team while senior R.J. Holmes was named to the second team. The Tartan coaching staff (assistant coaches: Pat Martinelli, Colin Shaunnessey and Graham Elder) were also honored as the Coaching Staff of the Year under the direction of 34-year head coach Tony Wingen.
Tartans Receive At-Large Bid to NCAA Championship

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team received an at-large bid to the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship on Monday afternoon, marking the fourth-ever appearance by the Tartans and third under 34-year head coach Tony Wingen.

Stone's Late Three Lifts Tartans to Win on Senior Day Against Emory

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team hosted Emory University for Senior Day on Sunday, February 18. The game came down to the final seconds when senior Jack Stone hit the game-winning three-pointer with two seconds left to lift the Tartans to a 71-68 victory. The Tartans are now 8-5 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and 16-8 overall while the Eagles are 14-10 overall and 5-8 in the league.
Tartans Dominate Overtime to Top Rochester; Holmes Records 1,000th Point

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball team hosted the University of Rochester on Friday, February 16, winning in overtime, 87-70, as senior R.J. Holmes scored his 1,000th career point and sophomore Justin Allen was perfect in the extra frame. The Tartans are now 7-5 in the University Athletic Association (UAA) and 15-8 overall while the Yellowjackets are 10-13 overall and 4-8 in the league.

For the third time this season, Carnegie Mellon University men’s basketball sophomore Justin Allen was honored by D3hoops.com on the Team of the Week as well as being named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week. Allen helped the Tartans to a pair of UAA road wins over the weekend. The Tartans opened the weekend with an 80-77 win at Brandeis before topping 11th-ranked NYU on Sunday afternoon to complete the season series sweep over the Violets.
