Dannegger Named UAA Men’s Golf Rookie of the Year; Three Others Honored

Freshman Ryan Dannegger of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team has been named University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year, as voted on by the association coaches. Senior Brian Xu, junior Justin Chan and sophomore David Zhang also received recognition by the coaches as First Team All-UAA selections.

Junior Justin Chan of the Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been named by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as a finalist for the NCAA Division III Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award. The Nicklaus Award recognizes the top players at the Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA levels.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team opened play at the first round of the 2024 NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday in Boulder City, Nevada. The Tartans played their opening round on the Legacy Golf Club course while carding a six-under par 282 and are currently tied for sixth. The Tartans tied for the best team score at the Legacy Golf Club on Tuesday with every team ahead of them playing at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s golf team has been selected to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 14-17 at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Neveda, on the Desert Hawk-Coyote Run Golf Courses. The University of Nevada and Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will be hosting the four-day event.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team won The Visit Florence Intercollegiate on Tuesday afternoon. The 54-hole event was played at Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals. The Tartans carded a seven-under par 281 on Tuesday and ended with an 853 (285-287-281).

The Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team competed in The Savannah Invitational hosted by Berry College on Monday and Tuesday. The 54-hole event was played at The Club at Savannah Harbor Golf Course. Sophomore David Zhang tied the school record for the lowest individual round in the program's history with a seven-under par 65 during the second round of play. The Tartans placed seventh after carding rounds of 289, 285 and 294 for an 868.
