Chan Named UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior Justin Chan of the Carnegie Mellon University men's golf team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Golf Athlete of the Week following his performance in leading the Tartans to back-to-back UAA Championships as well as to a fifth place showing at the 2023 Golfweek Invitational last week.

Chan was named the UAA All-Tournament Team at the 2023 UAA Championship event. He won both his matches during the championships, the first 3&2 over Kerry Wang of Rochester and the second 2&1 over Michael Burry of Emory in the championship match. In the Golfweek Invitational, Chan finished second individually in a field of 125 golfers with a 205 (65-67-73) (-8). His opening collegiate-low round of 65 (-6) tied the third lowest individual 18-hole total in the program's history. The 54-hole score of 205 is also tied for the third lowest three- round score in program history.

Through eight rounds this season he is averaging 73.3 per round.

The Tartans will conclude their fall season at the NCAA Preview October 29-31. The event will be held at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.
