#37 Tartans Fall to #12 Denison, 8-1

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 37th in the nation, hosted 12th-ranked Denison University on Sunday, March 31. The Tartans dropped the match by an 8-1 score to move to 4-7 overall while the Big Red moved to 7-3.

Inside the Results

  • Denison took a 2-1 lead following doubles play with the Tartans earning their point at second doubles from sophomore Akshay Joshi and senior Derek Wong, 8-5.
  • Joshi played his sixth singles match to three sets but fell 6-3, 5-7, 3-6.
  • Freshman Daniel Kong also played to three sets at third singles winning the first set 7-5 before falling 6-2 and 6-2.

The Tartans will travel to the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for a 11:00 a.m. match against the Eagles on Saturday, April 6.
