Breidenbach and Short Named UAA Athletes of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior Cody Breidenbach and freshman Matthew Short of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week. Breidenbach collected the accolade for field events after his performance at the Youngstown State University Icebreaker on Friday while Short earns the honor for his showing in running events at the same meet.

Breidenbach took second in the weight throw with a toss of 18.12 meters. His mark in the weight throw is currently tops in the UAA and fifth nationally.

In his first collegiate track and field meet, Short placed second in the mile run with a time of 4:13.61, as the field was comprised of 41 runners. His time in the mile is currently tops in the UAA and seventh nationally.

The Tartans will compete again at the Spire Midwest Open on Saturday, January 20.
