(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – Three Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field athletes have received an invite to compete at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8-9.

This marks the fifth straight indoor championships which the Tartans will have three or more athletes competing.

Senior Andrew McGovern will return to the championships competing in the 800-meter race following a sixth-place finish a year ago in the event, as he earned All-America honors. Joining McGovern in Virginia will be senior Thomas Rich and junior Colin McLaughlin. Rich will compete in the heptathlon while McLaughlin will run in the 3,000-meter race.

McGovern will enter this year's event ranked sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:50.40, a time that was set at the University Athletic Association indoor meet becoming a meet record and a new school record.

Rich will compete in the heptathlon and is the first Tartan to compete in the event at the championships. He will enter ranked 11th after recording a school record 4,991 points at the Bison Open in late January.

McLaughlin recorded a school record time of 8:10.30 at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational at the beginning of February and will enter the championships ranked 16th. He is the third Tartan to compete in the 3,000-meter run at the championships and first since 2019.

Rich and McLaughlin are not strangers to the national stage as both competed at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships alongside McGovern.

This year's championships will be held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
