Tartans Open Outdoor Season at West Virginia Stan Romanoski Open; Sanso Wins High Jump
(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University's men outdoor track and field team opened its outdoor season at the West Virginia Stan Romanoski Open on Friday and Saturday.
Top Performances in the Field:
- Junior Sebastian Sanso won the high jump clearing the bar at 1.83 meters.
- Sophomore Sam Alligood opened the meet on Friday night with an eighth-place finish in the hammer throw tossing the element 43.44 meters. He then took sixth in the discus with a throw of 40.17 meters.
- Graduate student Bailey O'Malley placed eighth in the discus with a toss of 39.41 meters.
- Sophomore Christian Duckworth took third in the pole vault clearing the bar at a school record height of 4.70 meters. The old school record was 4.66 meters set by Tommy Mansfield in 2017.
Top Performances on the Track:
- Sophomores Jeremy Ocloo and Gaven Williams placed fourth and sixth in the 400-meter race. Ocloo crossed in 51.09 while Williams in 51.91.
- Junior Micah Nowlin ran the 100-meter dash in 11.87 and the 110-meter hurdles in 16.75.
