Tartans Second Division III Team to Finish at Paul Short Invitational Gold Race

(BETHLEHEM, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team, ranked ninth in Division III, finished 13th overall and was the second Division III institution to cross in the gold race at the Lehigh University Paul Short Invitational on Saturday in a field of 43 teams. The field for the 8k race was comprised of runners from Division I, II and III.

Results:

  • Junior Matthew Coyle led the Tartans as he crossed 45th overall in a field of 390 runners with a time of 24:41.8.
  • The second Tartan to cross the line was graduate student Matthew Porter with a time of 24:46.0 in 54th.
  • Sophomore Ryan Podnar crossed third for the Cardinal and Gray in 24:51.6.
  • With a time of 25:02.4, junior Colin McLaughlin was the fourth Tartan to finish.
  • Rounding out the top five for Carnegie Mellon was senior Jacob Hsu in 25:12.2.
