Tartans Place Sixth at UAA Championships

(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team finished the four-day University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships at the University of Chicago on Saturday, February 17 in sixth place with 850 points. 

Top Performances

• With a time of 17:56.64, freshman Jessica Zheng was the top finisher for the Tartans in the 1,650-yard freestyle. Freshman Ellie Leeming was 16th overall in a time of 18:03.92.
• Sophomore Savannah Xu placed fifth in the 200-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 2:02.65.
• With a time of 52.31, sophomore Eliana Szabo was the top finisher for the Tartans in the 100-yard freestyle.
• With a time of 2:25.07, junior Emma Kulbida was the top finisher for the Tartans in the 200-yard breaststroke, as she won the C-final.
• Sophomore Sophie Elliott placed seventh in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:05.40. Three other Tartans also competed in this event in the B-finals.
• The Tartans placed fifth in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Senior Zoe Jacobs, Szabo, sophomore Grace Malinger, and Xu finished in a season-best time of 3:29.15 to meet the NCAA provisional qualifying standard.
