#10 Tartans Battel with #6 Emory at ITA National Team Indoor Championship

(NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 10th in the nation, played in the consolation round of the 2024 ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Saturday, March 2 against sixth-ranked Emory University. The Tartans are now 5-3 after dropping the match, 6-1.

Inside the Results

  • Emory took the doubles point after sweeping the results with wins at first doubles, 6-4, second doubles, 7-5, and third doubles, 6-2.
  • Senior Danna Taylor picked up the lone victory for the Tartans with a 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) score against Ana Cristina Perez at second singles.
  • Junior Sarah Yang and freshman Elaine Qian also played a third-set tiebreaker with Yang falling 6-4, 4-6, 0-1 (5-10) at first singles and Qian falling 1-6, 6-4, 0-1 (5-10) at sixth singles.

Notes

  • Taylor and Perez faced each other earlier this season at the ITA Cup with Perez winning 7-5, 6-3.
