Tartans Complete Play at ITA National Team Indoor Championship

(NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 10th in the nation, played in the seventh-place match of the 2024 ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Sunday morning against #12 Sewanee University. The Tartans are now 5-4 after dropping the match 4-1.

Inside the Results

  • Sewanee got one point for doubles by winning two matches, with the first being 6-1, and the second 6-0.
  • Freshman Elaine Qian picked up the lone victory for the Tartans with a 6-4, 6-2, win against Nicole Nowak at sixth singles.
  • Junior Sarah Yang and sophomore Divya Venkatarama played into a third set before play was stopped after Sewanee clinched the match.
  • Yang dropped her first set 7-6 (4) before winning the second 6-1 while set three was tied at 1-all.
  • Venkatarama won 6-2 in set one, then dropped set two 6-2 and trailed 3-2 in set three.
